Ah, Easter. In the Pacific Northwest sometimes it’s lovely, most of the time it’s not. This year is was pretty darn nice for it being so early on the calendar. Sadly our original plans with friends were canceled due to a death in their family, so I pulled this rabbit out of my hat: McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse Pub.
McMenamins was founded by a couple of brothers way back in the way back here in Oregon. For the uninitiated, in a nutshell, they take historic properties and turn them into destination pubs and hotels. In case you’ve never been to one you need to know that there’s a certain esthetic to all their venues. It’s sort of historic restoration and wild gardens meets hippie art. Long live the hippie art.
They also serve a fantastic Easter brunch in and among the late 1960s and 1970s vibe… and beer! McMenamins made craft beer hip looooong before you all made your crafty, craft beer. *sighs* Too bad... There's so many varieties that sometimes I regret that I hate the way it tastes.
Walking through the property was a little bit like an Easter egg hunt. We never knew what we were going to find so, I’ll just finish up here with the captions and let you wander, too.
